Gained 9 lbs in 1.5 weeks

I don’t know what I did wrong.  I ate reasonably.  I exercised 4 days every week.  I walked two of those four days.  I ate around 1200 calories.  I’m ready to throw in the towel.

Maybe you are just bloated. Give it a couple of days to see if the scale goes down. Good luck!

Ya, it could be water weight, so don’t give up!

Don’t give up, you might’ve gained muscle and water weight! Just keep doing your thing it’s bound to go away!

That is exactly why I’ve stopped weighing myself, the scale messes with my head! I made a goal to not weigh myself for the whole month, and it’s helped me stay focused (so far).

You said you did badly last weekend (I assume Halloween weekend), what you are seeing is the reaction to that most probably. When your weight is in the state of flux, it is very easy to shift it upwards. Luckily it goes away relatively easily. Just give it another week of good eating and excersising. I don’t know if 1200 is your BMR, but you do need to pay a particular attention to eating enough food after a binge. It might be counter-intuitive, but after you overeat, compensating with low cals is actually deadly, because the body thinks you are starving now and clutches to the excess weight for dear life. It’s a frustrating process, and often unpredictable, but luckily it has good surprises along with bad. Just hang in there. The alternative is kindda crappy.

I agree with what these guys said–also, watch the salt. I love it but, unfortunately, its bad for us and can cause water weight.
No matter what it is, and I know its very frustrating…but dont give up ok!

That is the story of my week, busted a**, at 1200 cals every day and as of today, no loss. But I did this last week and by Sun. I had at least lost one pound. So, do not give up. This will catch up to you. When you exercise your body holds water. I have wanted to quit so many times. Stay in it for the long haul as the rewards will be there. I almost threw the scale out the window one day and then thought better of it.

Totally agree with Leida. Don’t give up just yet. It can be anything, some weight gain from the Haloween weekend, mabye some bloating, maybe you are coming down with something or TOM is around the corner. Keep eating healthy and exercising and see what the scale says next week or in 2 weeks. Even if it really is all weight gained, that weight will come off in no time. During a week’s vacation last summer I gained 10lbs! but after 2 weeks of eating healthy again and running I lost all those 10lbs again. Its like those 10lbs weren’t really ’stuck’ to me yet lol. So don’t give up ok. Those 9lbs WILL go again!

Look - dont become slave to the damn scales . Measure urself - base it on inches whether you have gained or lost. Scales can do ur brain in - the did mine - now I look at them once a month! As for gain - stuff it - its done & it can BE UNDONE! HOW - redirect urself - shake up the excercise routine. OUR bodies can become used to it & as for the food - are u using a food diary - check it out , use it & see whats going on.x
